On October 6, Ingrid Valentini-Wanka, Commercial Counselor at the Austrian Embassy, presented the "Energy Globe Award" national recognition to Salaspils Siltums, a municipal company in Salaspils, for its contribution to environmental sustainability.
Representatives of the Austrian Embassy Ligita Tomika, Evija Rubiķe and Irēna Zujeva, as well as the Chairman of Salaspils Municipality Raimonds Čudars and the representative of Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Raimonds Kašs took part in the ceremony.
“Salaspils Siltums” Energy Globe Award application motto "From fossil fuels to solar energy in seven years". Salaspils Siltums is the first company in the Baltics which uses solar energy in the district heating system. After the implementation of the solar project, it is planned to produce at least 90% of thermal energy using only renewable energy resources - wood chips and solar energy.
